I am always in awe of mother nature and her beauty and fury (much like all women), ask anyone! This morning after working at my other job last night and only a few hours of sleep, I awoke after some kind of nightmare thinking the world was going to end and I needed to leave my house in order to survive. How can anyone sleep after a dream like that!? So after a few minutes facebook perusing to make sure there was no imminent danger (my most trusted news source, ha!), I checked the Weather Channel App and saw the sun was going to rise in about 45 minutes. So, I jumped out of bed and threw a bunch of camera gear in my truck and headed out.
I ended up near the corner of Hobe Rd. and Kishwaukee Valley Rd. just a few minutes west of Woodstock and set up my tripod, camera, and started shooting. I took a few shots of the rising sun (see below). Then, I shot a timelapse that started off with adequate exposure, it quickly became overexposed as the sun rose… I shoot in manual mode as much as possible and perhaps I should have allowed the camera to choose settings during that time.
After the timelapse, I got down low and saw the morning dew. Wow. Something so simple, but beautiful. The way it bends the light on the tips of the grass only to disappear in the morning heat. So peaceful. So serene. I will do this again…
